​Sprinkler systems must be correctly designed for the fire risk, building layout, occupancy type, water supply, storage height, and hazard classification. In South Africa, automatic sprinkler systems are typically designed and installed with reference to SANS 10287, while fire protection requirements are addressed under SANS 10400 Part T.
